There are two separate family trees which list Sir Evan Lloyd 1768-???? and Alicia Lloyd(Eustace) c1763-1860. I know how to drag and merge on my Tree but how do the two separate Trees get merged.

Wait and after a delay the floating node of Sir Evan Lloyd of Ferney Hall, KCB would appear

Dragit onto node of Lt Gen Sir Evan Lloyd

A window will pop up asking if it is the same, answer yes and continue

You would open the tree view for one of the duplicate profiles and select in the 'More' menu the 'Move this person' option (this will bring up a separate node in the upper right hand corner), then in another window tab, open the tree view for the other duplicate profile, the node for the duplicate will eventually appear in the upper corner, you then drop the extra node onto the duplicate profile and you will be asked if they are the same (other relationships are listed also). A request to merge the profiles will be sent unless you have permissions from the other manager for a merge.

Alternately you can copy the number portion of Profiles URL and on the duplicate profile open the 'Actions' menu and select 'Merge This Profile' and enter the copied portion of the other profile in the prompt, the name for the profile will then be displayed, which you select and continue to merge or a request will be sent.

there are various issues here
1. Based on the patronyms, Baltzar Rasmusson is the most logical candidate to be his father, but I am not allowed to set that (would "split the tree")
2. the parents and grandparents of Baltzar Rasmusson are all private (zombies, perhaps?)
3. finally, a bit more speculative, may be Rasmus Hindrichsson Tinkel and Rasmus Hindrichsson Tinkel are not father and son, but simply the same person, and possibly the father of Baltzar Rasmusson?

Arie: I agree with #3, particularly when #2 was taken care of ...
