Curator help is needed with the following profiles that don't have a curator:

John Parker, of Great Burstead (has too many parents... should only be Thomas & Elizabeth Frye Parker)

His son, John Parker II @ John Parker, II, of Great Burstead has too many parents.

I think there may have been a mis-merge somewhere in the past, so this area may need quite a lot of help...
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Pat

@Unknown Profile

I would appreciate if a curator could delete this record which I inputted in error.

John F Sheerin,

Removed it for you. What I first had to do was to remove the unknown spouse and then I was able to get rid of that profile.

Kevin

Many thanks.

John

Abby Barry Bergman I have tried to find a more direct path for people I am searching for. When I check a relationship to another person, the PATH always goes through a distant relative (related by marriage) but NOT MY OWN blood relatives, of which I have listed a few hundred. How do I redirect the PATH for relationships to someone who is my acrtual blood relative?
It has been suggested that a CURATOR can FORCE A PATH RECALCULATION at any time. I have tried to contact the curators that were suggested to me, but whenever I click on their names, I get a screen insisting that I become a Geni PRO member. Please help! @Abby Bergman

I would like to request to manage this profile, the manager Meg Wallace passed away. I would also like to request to manage all profiles managed by Meg. @Richard LaVal

You can't - the profile you are pointing to is a claimed profile, - i.e. a user profile.

The fact that a manager is listed is due to an earlier earlier functionality that made abandoned accounts editable by family or that the user did not fully claim the profile by setting a permanent password. This specific user has not logged in since June 2010.

To Abby Bergman -- and to Curators --

I am a Geni PRO user, but only became one recently, and i am still learning my way around some of the functions here. I am having the same trouble -- and i think that many Ashkenazi Jews will recognize this issue, as our families had many cousin marriages in times past. I found two different paths to a person, one through marriage and one that is directly by DNA. Then i found a second direct-DNA connection, even shorter. But when i go to the person's profile, Geni always calculates the marriage connection, which is random and lengthy and really useless to my conceptualization of the relationships, as my interest is in DNA, not marriages.

I always assumed that once a new, shorter path was found, Geni automatically recalculated, but i am no longer sure that this is true. Is it, or not?

Furthermore, i see that primacy is not given to DNA-paths over marriage paths. Why not?

This is the first time i have heard that currators can "force" the program to recalculate a path. Is this true?

Thanks for all your help. I am enjoying my PRO account greatly and recommending it to all my friends and relatives.

I might be easier to get into detailed questions and answers in the discussion function in this project, so it's easier preserved for the future than "this" busy thread?

To help "walk a path" we'd need public profiles to work with posted.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Erica, for that link. I now understand more, although i found this description a bit unsettling "For many reasons, this system doesn't always work. If it doesn't, then it doesn't."

The Geni calculator has found relationships as far distant as 100 steps. So personally I"m not so unsettled.

For me, it's understanding that this is a busy, dynamic database, not a reporting application. For that you might be interested in the HistoryLink tool

Thanks!

George H Clark is a real mess. Looks like three different people were merged. Will someone do an unmerge? I'll see what I can do to fix it after the unmerge. Thanks. Jim

Thanks Erica Howton, you're wonderful. I returned to the scene of the problems. It looks great. I included more information and made some new merges for the wife's ancestors. It looks a little awkward because there is a blend of private and public profiles. Anyway, I appreciate your work! Jim

Sorry to trouble. I got a family member who started their family tree and now we want to merge our trees. Can someone help and let us know what we need to do or how we must do it. Thank you for your time Willem

Please unmerge, my attention was stolen at a crucial moment.

Unmerge requested on Alice; should be done in a few minutes.

Jonathan Scott Krengel check the Revisions tab on Alice for the unmerged profile (it is currently floating around disconnected from any other profile).

Thanks Dan!

Hi, I accidentally merged Rebecca Pennell b. 1747 (Rebecca Walter Buck) and Rebecca Pennell b. 1772. How can I reverse this?

Daniel "Dan" Philip Turner I'm undoing the merge for you right now :))

Daniel "Dan" Philip Turner

Timothy Alan Davis was made primary manager of Rebecca Pennell by ★ Wendi ★.

Rebecca Walters was unmerged from Rebecca Pennell by ★ Wendi ★.

Thank you so much!

My pleasure. Any time!

Actually, the one you unmerged was correct (the one in my tree). I accidentally merged the wrong duplicate before I merged Rebecca Walters, so the main Rebecca Pennell profile is still wrong. Sorry, I should have clarified first.
