Hi,
I'm just looking for thoughts about handling adoptions on the tree. I assume the issue has arisen on the past. My thought is that the tree reflects a blood line but yet at the same time, adopted parents must be recognized. Placing the information in "About" does not seem sufficient. Is there anything else available? Elise Röthlisberger was adopted by the Heppler family when she was 3 and very soon after her immigration with her mother.
Secondly, what about children whose blood parents are unknown. In that case I attached them to the adopting parents but made a note in the ABOUT.
Thanks for your thought... Jim
It is my most sincere belief that any and all adopted children should be placed with both their adoptive parents and their blood parents (if known).
Plenty of profiles appear in two (or more) places in the Big Tree, and in my opinion it should pose no real problem to give users the opportunity to see the true bloodline of an adopted child if it is available, while at the same time keeping the connection to their adoptive parents intact.
I would imagine that any adopted child would be deeply appalled to find that they have been "cut" from either one of their family trees.
Thank Eldon Lester Clark. I read in the discussions from Benjamin's note that providing a solution is on the programmers "to do" list. In the meantime, the idea is to preserve the genetic heritage as well as the family connection.
Is there any what I can get co-manager of this profile? @William Henry Mansfield
It sis still on pending mode since shortly after I/joined Started family tree November 26, 2009
Any contact via private messages, asking to my family group, for collaboration, or asking for co-manager of profiles from @Christopher Paul Hardisty has been fruitless
I have repeatedly reported this as an abandoned tree he has many profiles that he entered on my Hardesty (Hardisty) / Edington / Ashcraft profiles and allied lines.
Any help would be appreciated - I gaining co-manager of profiles I have long ago requested co-managership of from @Christopher Paul Hardisty has been fruitless
okay found a duplicate I think that solves this - for @William Henry Mansfield
but there could be tothers I requested co-manager from him over the years and no response from him - not sure till I run into them again
Asa Stearns - please remove relationship to his father Daniel Stearns and his second wife, Lois Rice.
Will someone please unmerge http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000030988855805 that was done a couple of hours ago? Their children are from different time periods. Thanks for your help. Jim
