Nefertiti isn't MY gggg grandmother, according to geni. It must have missed something ;-) Sorry I missed that article after dropping my subscription. Thanks for posting the link.

Nefertiti, Queen of Egypt is your 20th great grandfather's wife's niece's husband's first cousin once removed's wife's first cousin's wife's 13th great aunt's husband's great uncle's wife's 9th cousin four times removed's wife.

Not a descendant, according to this. I guess I am the mathematical variation.

Byron, That's the same result I got. I get that kind of runaround a lot on geni. I consider it nonsense. Another thing is, "you are connected," followed by "no path found." That string ought to be reworked; "you are connected" should not be the leading notification if in fact no connection might be found.

Yes, I am not a 100% believer that we are all descendants, math or no.

I don't trust in the relationship calculator either. Some things are completely wrong because it follows the wrong path. There are several cousins I can verify that also show up like the search did.

Geni needs some upgrades, that is for sure. The say the search feature at their benefactor website is better. I say that they should use the best they have available.

Nothing is more annoying than you are connected, followed by a message that they are unable to connect you. That is just not right.

How goes is with you Father Jerome? Hope all is well.

Oh, I'm OK now that I've found my 61st ggm, Cleopatra, and my 99th ggf, King David of Israel. That makes up for Nefertiti ;-) But I think something is wrong with Cham of the Huns (8th c. B.C.), my 84th ggf (through King Stephen I of Hungary and Attila the Hun), since the Huns had no written language or history, so the idea that Attila was an ancestor of King Stephen (or the tribe of Huns were ancestors of the Hungarian people) is not accepted by historians as far as I know. Then, there is my 54th ggf, Vasudeva II, king of Kushana (3rd c. A.D.), who was born and died in Kandahar, Afghanistan (you've heard of that place, haven't you?).

Anyone interested in "deep ancestry" might want to take a look at the Geni project

http://www.geni.com/projects/Descents-from-Antiquity/12283

There's a process mapped out to document & better align the Geni tree. It's slow but producing results.

Ha ha ha. That's funny. I wouldn't have ever thought to have checked on those type of relationships.

Byron I look forward to your Cray super computer donation to Geni.com :):)

It's the best relstionship calculator I've seen in genealogy.

Cray super computer? I haven't heard of it. I will have to google that.

Happy to donate my overclocked 8 core @ 4.5 Ghz with 32 MB of RAM. It's pretty sweet! LOL

Try calculating your relationship to Jesus the Christ. It will help you to see how geni fails to come up with paths tha are obvcous or creates ones that are spurious. After all, a computer program can do no better than work with the date that is in there - and lets face it, there s a LOT of data that is absent or just wrong....

But you should read Chang's argument about how all Europeans are related to Charlemagne and Muhammad, and how everyone in the world alive to day is related to Nefertiti. I will post an article thats a bit easier to read and follow if I can find it.

If you want to look at how (in)complete your tree is, I recommend Jeff Gentes' ancestor graph tool - http://historylink.herokuapp.com/graph

All of us have a lot of ancestors we don't know the name of.

yeah, I've got a long way to go! Thats why I need something like geni to help me out!

Here´s the article I guess Anne Elizabeth ment:

Thank you posting it. I'm going to upload to the project

http://www.geni.com/projects/Descendants-of-Charlemagne/5219

Actually, here is the article

"The mathematical study of genealogy indicates that everyone in the world is descended from Nefertiti and Confucius, and everyone of European ancestry is descended from Muhammad and Charlemagne"

RE: Cray computer.
I had the honor to meet with Seymor Cray at his place in Wisc in the mid 70s. He was quite shy but brilliant. He later was killed in a traffic accident in Colorado, I believe.

Do we have a Geni tree for Cray? We have various projects he could be honored in (notice how my mind works ....)

Anyone can start a new tree for an unrelated person, by the way. Find an obscure ancestor long ago, add a sibling, disconnect from parents and voila! New tree to build out. Usually it's not that hard to find their families to connect to (with some work of course).

There is a Seymour Cray - I've made him an MP:
Seymour Roger Cray

I can't find a project for "computer scientists". Perhaps one should be started?

Does http://www.geni.com/projects/Computer-pioneers/10271 do it for you?

I think I'll also start an occupation project for "computer scientists."

http://www.geni.com/projects/Computer-Scientists/18579 is open for business, add your computer superheroes to it! And even the regular guys ... :)

I believe, CRAY and computer sciences are deemed for a separate thread... as, I´m not sure, what they have to do with the Presidents of the USA.

;-)

MPing profiles, also has it´s own, line of discussion. ;-) ;-)

One thought leads to another ...

I know... its just when Topic/Discussion Headers seem to mislead to content, is for some frustrating. (I and a few others jave even been called "disrupters" and "Amateurs", for veering off course, in other threads. Just wanted to mention it, nicely, before someone else, did, not so nicely. lol!)

<3

"internet trolls" or "online trolls", that was the term! lol! and it is actually, defined as on seeking attention or seeking to disrupt... in comment and discussion threads... (yes, my mouth was hanging open, when I read it, too.)
;-)

can we get back to presidents PLEASE?

OK, I am still interested in people trying to resolve the John Tyler controversy over who is his grandmother, for real. There is a dispute - see my links above. - thanks

I'd like to take a look at that, as his maternal line, conflicts, also... here On Geni, compare to what BridgeAnne and her Granddaddy put together On the Cousins of Obama Chart.

Which link, Anne, there were a few... would you be so Kind and post it, again, please, Cuz. :-*

xoxoxoRenée

BTW- I've emailed BridgeAnne with the info On Geni, also, requesting certification/sources. Hope to hear something soon.
;-)
