Especially concerning the often mixed up lines of Tancred "the Viking" de Tancredi Villa (Tancarville), b. abt 890 and recorded as being with Rollo at "Saint Clair-sur-Epte", in the Autumn of 911 and thereafter helping to organize the newly acquired Duchy of Normandy ..
This Lord Tancred was the progenitor of the houses of Tancarville, d'Abitot, d'Wasseburne, le Despenser and most variations thereof ...
AND ...
Tancred de Hauteville, d. 1041, lived almost 100 years later, had many sons (some sources say 12), many of which traveled to and conquered several areas in southern Italy. These two Tancreds' may have been related, but definitely not the same.
