I started up two new projects today for Los Angeles and San Francisco. Please join the projects as a collaborator if you are interested.

Terrific projects, Randy! What are the criteria for including profiles: Born in the city? Raised in the city? Business in the city? Should we place brief descriptions by the profiles on the list as part of the project?
Can't wait to start-

One more question for Randy: How early is "early"? Born before 1900?

I joined and took a look. I assumed that the date was at least pre-1880, if not pre-1860.

I was born in SF and raised in the Bay Area. And split my time between Washington DC, NYC, Bay Area and LA now.

FYI: I am adding profiles for people born in SF before 1900, until further notice.

I think folks who lived in the city before 1900 is the benchmark for now. We can branch out later.

Sounds good. The West was populated later.

Before 1860 is early for most of the US.

Hi there,
All branches from my mother's family were in San Francisco before 1860. None are mentioned in your list of families. Are you interested in my participation, bringing other Jewish families into your research? If so, I would like to join. The surnames of my direct ancestors are Lengfeld, Samuels, Honigsberger, Cahn, Freund, Weyl, Foorman, Neuberger, along with many others related as cousins and through marriage. 3 of my relatives were present at the first High Holiday Service at Temple Emanuel in SF.

YES! Please add everyone to the project. You can also edit the project page to add your families. We're just starting out. Everyone can join in the fun.
