23andMe Ancestry Composition -- How Ashkenaz are you?

Perhaps your non-Jewish gg-grandparent has Jewish ancestry that they/you were not aware of. :-)

Well, the mother's last name was Resch, which could be Jewish, but not likely. They were Donauschwaben (German settlers) in Kula, Hungary.

I am not aware of any non-jewish ancestors and 23andme is telling me:
Standard Estimate - 92.2% Ashkenazi, 0.5% Southern European, 7.0% Nonspecific European.

Speculative Estimate - 96.3% Ashkenazi, 1.1% Southern European, 0.2% Northern European, 2.4% Nonspecific European.

2.5% Neanderthal

% southern European or semitic?

I'm 21.7% - sounds about right.

If they speak of Neanderthal, I dare surely NOT have a test ;-)

I'm actually 50% Ashkenazi. This is from JTest on Gedmatch.

I should be about 50% British Isles / Norman and 50% Ashkenazi (but probably with some Sephardic lines).

I did both Ancestry.com and 23&me to compare results. The Ancestry.com result is simple to understand & generalized...it showed European Jewish & surprisingly British Isles (I thought I was 50% Scandinavian). So I did the 23&me to compare. The 23&me information that they provide is much more detailed, but also more difficult to assess. My results are: 47% Ashkenazi. The rest is N European, mainly French & German w some Scandinavian, Finnish & Brit Isles. And 2.6% Neanderthal. So Ancestry.com misled me a bit classifying N European as Brit Isles...but the R1b1b2a1a1 Hapologroup that this represents is in fact wide spread from Spain thru n Europe, to Scandinavia & the British Isles as well, so there you go.

23andme tested me 93.5 Ashkenazi; Here is the breakdown: 99.7% European, of that 93.5% is Ashkenazi,1.1% Eastern European, Northern European: 0.2% Scandinavian, 0.9% Broadly Northern European Southern European 0.4% Broadly Southern European 3.6%
Broadly European 0.1%; btw, Neaderthal was 2.1%. The remaining ancestry:

Luckily these tests did not exist 80 years ago . It seems only very few would have escaped the Nazis .

Yeah, well - if Geni with its plan tell the whole world everyone's ancestry had been around then, would they even need the tests?

FTDNA has me as 100% ashkenazi diaspora. Previously I recall it saying 97.7. Are there really unique markers that give that precise a determination?

And one more thing on that note: A couple of my FTDNA autosomal matches are indicated at 0% Jewish Diaspora including one estimated at 2nd-4th cousin. Ashkenazi Diaspora is shown as a subset of Jewish Diaspora. Again I ask: how precise is this tool?

It's taken six months, but I have run Jtest. Would someone please explain
why the Ashkenazi percentage below 27.1% is so vastly different from the 93.5% in speculative mode on 23andme? Randy maybe? Here is the Jtest:
