I am 42 yrs old, my father is John (born Jack) Wadsworth Gatewood, his mother was Margaret Wadsworth (maiden name) and as long as I have been alive I have known Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was in our family line, but I haven't been able to trace back as to how Margaret Wadsworth, my grandmother, was exactly related. She married my grandfather E. Howard Gatewood. If anyone can help trace between the poet and Margaret, I would appreciate the help. Thank you!

Can you put in a public profile link to the oldest known Wadsworth in your line? Thanks

Yes, thank you! I just got the name of my grandmother's father, John Thaddeus Wadsworth (he married Katherine Taliferro) John was from New England, not sure exactly where. I know my grandmother spent some childhood years in both Maine and Bridgeport Connecticut. John got a Master's degree from Syracuse University I believe. John Thaddeus Wadsworth John Thaddeus Wadsworth Any further information would be greatly appreciate by our family. Thanks again.

You also know of course that Taliferro is a grand old Southern name with an enormous family tree? We should be able to connect that side as well.

Do you have any dates, even approximate ones, for their births & deaths to add to the profiles?

I answered my own question! Can you add this information to the profiles with the reference also?

Born in Gardiner, Maine, USA on 30 May 1887. John Thaddeus married Katherine Davies Taliaferro and had 2 children.

And you can add this record as well.

Notice the correct spelling of Taliaferro

This tree looks accurate so far

If I were you I would go ahead and add the parents based on it, referring to the tree as your source data. Please set the profiles to "public" - it's the radio button, upper right hand corner, profile view, edit basics tab.
