If that merge option doesn't work, here they are:

Anyone know what's going on here?

Stephen in cases like this the main MP is
Robert FitzHarold de Ewyas, I

On June 21, 2011 this user Emily Catherine Harsh went ahead and cread a new branch of the tree and added numerous 'DUPLICATE' profiles.

So our Curator Ofir Friedman has MP and locked this new set of duplicates to stop the merging into the Big Tree because it may cause more work on our part trying to merge in all of these duplicates.

So Ofir is awaiting a reply to a message he sent to the user to decide how to act. That is why he states .Work in Progress.

if you'll take a closer look you'll notice that I am working on this area in the last 2 days and still haven't finished all the merges

Thanks Ofir..

also , just to let you know that evrey single duplicate in such area create more mess and it takes some time (and clear mind / head) to figure out the ones that are causing the mess

I see, so this is just a strategy to fix or otherwise deal with a very complicated section of the tree?

Stephen to give you a little bit of an idea what a Curator had to go through just look at the managers of this profile ww.geni.com/people/Robert-FitzHarold-De-Ewyas/6000000006405132052 notice it has 55 managers this mean that there were 55 merges to get to this point on that one profile, imagine if there were about a 1000 more around that one...a lot of work isn't it?

So after doing all of that work if and when we see a new user come along and add a branch of the same tree with the same duplicate profiles we have to try and stop them, so we immediately send a message to the User and point out that the profiles they are creating are already on the Tree so it isn't necessary to create them again.

So you see why we sometimes have to take different and drastic actions to stop users from creating duplicates..
